on may 19, the chinese group cntic/lpec signed an epc contract with the algerian state-owned oil and gas company sonatrach to build a methyl tert-butyl ether (mtbe) plant in algeria. it’s less than a month after genertec cntic’s last epc deal in the country was signed on april 30. the mtbe plant is located in oran, the largest city of western algeria. it will create about 3,700 jobs and projects an annual output of around 200,000 tons, helping boost the local economy.
